Lust And Pride

The tactics of Satan; using the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life to snare humans is derived from the book of First John. Here is a brief explanation of each of these aspects along with sample verses from the King James Version.

Lust of the Flesh: This refers to the strong desire for physical pleasures and gratifications, such as indulging in sensual pleasures or giving in to carnal desires.

1 John 2:16; For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

Lust of the Eyes: This involves the craving for material possessions, wealth, or anything that appeals to the senses visually, leading one to covet or desire things excessively.

Matthew 5:28; But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

Pride of Life: This pertains to arrogance, self-importance, and the pursuit of status or recognition, leading individuals to exalt themselves above others and reject humility before God.

Galatians 6:3; For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.

These three aspects, as mentioned in 1 John 2:16, are the primary ways in which Satan seeks to ensnare or tempt humans away from righteousness and obedience to God. They represent fundamental human vulnerabilities that can be exploited to lead individuals astray from spiritual truth and moral integrity.

In this series we will break down each of these three tactics Satan uses, and explain how every sin or wrong doing can be explained by these three tactics.
