Praying Psalm 6

Father God,

As I come before You, I pour out my heart in prayer. Hear my cry, O Lord, and do not rebuke me in anger, nor chasten me in your hot displeasure. I acknowledge my weakness before You, Lord; I am in need of Your mercy and healing. My soul is troubled, and my bones are vexed with pain. How long, O Lord, must I endure this suffering?

I plead with You, Lord, to return and deliver my soul. Save me, not for my sake, but for the sake of Your mercies and unfailing love. For in death, there is no remembrance of You, and in the grave, who will give You thanks? My heart is heavy with sorrow, and my tears flow like a river. I am weary from groaning, and my eyes are consumed with grief because of my enemies.

But I trust in Your promise, Lord. You have heard my cries, and You will receive my prayer. I know that You are listening, and I take refuge in Your unfailing love. Let shame and vexation befall my enemies, Lord. May they be confounded and ashamed, while I rejoice in Your deliverance. In Your mighty name, I pray, Amen.
